PUG Fortify Milky is a professional-grade thixotropic hard gel for technicians who demand precision, control, and staying power.

Unlike self-levelling hard gels, Fortify stays exactly where you place it. Its thick, non-flowing consistency is purpose-built for armouring, restoration, dual form extensions, and freehand sculpting — anywhere you need the gel to hold position while you work rather than flow and settle on its own. Filing into shape is part of the technique, and technicians who love building in the air will feel right at home.

The Milky shade delivers a soft, milky white finish at approximately 70% coverage — enough to even out the nail and deliver a clean, natural-looking result that works beautifully as a standalone finish or as a base for nail art and French styles.

HEMA-free and TPO-free, formulated in the EU to EU cosmetic regulations. File off only.

USE CASES

Armouring

PUG Fortify's non-self-levelling consistency makes it the ideal product for armouring — reinforcing the free edge and stress points on any nail type to boost retention and prevent breakage. Apply precisely where reinforcement is needed and it stays put, giving you full control over placement without the gel migrating away from the area.

Restoration

Correct damaged curves, extend short nails, and restore proper nail architecture with precision. The thixotropic formula holds its position as you work, allowing you to build structure exactly where it's needed without the product slumping or spreading before you're ready to cure.

Dual Form Extensions

PUG Fortify is Planet Nails' recommended hard gel for dual form use. The thick, non-flowing consistency fills the form cleanly without air pockets or product migration, giving you strong, well-structured extensions that hold their shape through the cure.

Freehand Sculpting Over Forms

For technicians who love building in the air, Fortify's thixotropic consistency gives you exactly the control you need. Shape, build, and position the gel with confidence — it holds where you put it. Filing into shape after curing is part of the technique and produces a strong, precise result.

Overlays and Tip Overlays

Apply over natural nails or tip extensions as a hard gel structural overlay. Fortify adds hard gel strength and durability to any base, and the milky white tone gives a clean, polished finish ready for top coat or colour.

Soft French and Natural Finish

The milky white shade at 70% coverage delivers a soft, elegant French-adjacent finish on its own. Pair with a white tip for a classic French, or wear it clean for a natural, polished look with hard gel strength underneath.

APPLICATION — STANDARD PROTOCOL

1 Sanitise nails using The One Spray. Push back cuticles and buff to remove all traces of shine.
2 Apply nail tips, dual forms, or nail forms if required.
3 Apply PN Nail Prep to the natural nail only. Allow to dry (optional step).
4 Apply PN Sticky Bond or Sticky Bond HF sparingly to the natural nail only. Allow to become tacky.
5 Apply a base coat layer of your chosen Planet Nails rubber base over the entire nail. Do not touch the cuticle or sidewall areas. Seal all sides of the free edge. Cure 60–90 seconds. Alternatively, apply PUG Clear as a base coat.
6 Pick up a bead of PUG Fortify Milky with your gel brush. Apply to the free edge and/or nail, pulling the gel toward you to seal and build the desired structure. The thixotropic consistency holds position — work with precision and place the product exactly where it is needed. Seal all sides of the free edge. Cure 60 seconds (405nm LED) or 2 minutes (365nm UV).
7 Repeat with a second layer if additional structure or length is required. Seal the free edge and cure.
8 Remove the tacky layer with The One Spray and a PN Lint Free Wipe.
9 File and shape into the desired finished form. Seal the underside of the free edge for maximum durability. Buff with a buffer to remove scratches.
10 Wash hands thoroughly to remove product residue and dust.
11 Apply The One Spray to a nail wipe to sanitise. The nail is now ready for gel polish colour or top coat.
Filing is part of the technique
PUG Fortify is not designed for a no-file finish. The thixotropic formula holds its shape on the nail rather than self-levelling, which means the surface will need to be filed and refined after curing. This is by design — it gives you precision control during application and a strong, accurate result after filing.

ABOUT PUG FORTIFY

PUG Fortify is the precision line within the PUG — Planet Ultimate Gel — family. Where PUG Clear and PUGGLE are designed to flow, self-level, and deliver a smooth result with minimal filing, Fortify is built for the opposite: maximum control, zero slump, and deliberate placement.

Thixotropic gels behave differently to standard builders. They are thick and resistant to flow at rest, but become workable under the movement of a brush — and return to holding their position the moment you stop. For technicians who work precisely, build in the air, or use dual forms, this behaviour is exactly what the technique requires.

PUG Fortify is the recommended Planet Nails hard gel for armouring and restoration work — reinforcing stress points, correcting nail architecture, and building structure where it's needed most. It is also the recommended hard gel for dual form extensions, where a non-self-levelling consistency prevents product from pooling or migrating inside the form before curing.

All PUG Fortify shades are HEMA-free and TPO-free, manufactured in the EU to EU cosmetic regulations. Available in Milky, Clear, Bliss and Rosy.

REMOVAL

PUG Fortify is a permanent hard gel — it is file off only and cannot be removed with acetone.

1 De-bulk the surface using the 100-grit side of a 100/180 file or an e-file de-bulking bit. File only the product surface — do not touch the natural nail.
2 Continue filing carefully until the product layer is thin. Switch to a finer grit to remove remaining product close to the nail surface without damage.
3 If a Planet Nails rubber base was applied beneath, file down to the base layer and soak off the remaining base with acetone — approximately 10–15 minutes. This significantly reduces total removal time.
4 Buff lightly with a buffer to remove any residue and smooth the nail surface.
5 Nails are ready for a fresh application.
Infill vs full removal
Planet Nails strongly recommends infilling over full removal where possible. De-bulk down to a thin even layer and apply fresh product on top — the natural nail stays intact and prep time at the next appointment is significantly reduced.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does thixotropic mean?

Thixotropic gels are thick and resistant to flow when at rest, but become workable when moved with a brush — and return to holding their position once you stop. In practice, this means PUG Fortify stays exactly where you place it on the nail without spreading or slumping, giving you precision control that standard self-levelling gels cannot offer.

Is PUG Fortify suitable for beginners?

It depends on what you are working on. Because PUG Fortify does not flow or run, it actually has a real advantage for technicians learning to sculpt — the gel stays where you place it on the form, which makes it easier to build and shape without the product moving before you are ready to cure. For beginners practising sculptures over forms or dual form extensions, Fortify can be a more manageable starting point than a self-levelling gel. Where it requires more skill is in the filing stage — because the gel does not self-level, the surface will always need to be filed and refined after curing, so comfort with a file or e-file is important. For overlays and everyday services where a smooth, low-filing result is the goal, PUG Clear or PUGGLE remain the more forgiving options.

Why is PUG Fortify recommended for dual forms?

Dual form extensions require a gel that fills the form cleanly and holds its position without migrating or pooling before curing. PUG Fortify's thixotropic consistency does exactly this — it fills the form under brush pressure and stays put, producing strong, well-structured extensions with minimal air pockets.

Can PUG Fortify be used for armouring and restoration?

Yes — this is one of Fortify's core strengths. The non-self-levelling formula allows you to apply gel precisely at the stress point or area of concern without it spreading away from where you need it. For armouring the free edge, correcting nail curvature, or restoring nail architecture after damage, Fortify gives you the control that self-levelling gels cannot.

Is PUG Fortify HEMA-free and TPO-free?

Yes. All PUG Fortify shades are HEMA-free and TPO-free, manufactured in the EU to EU cosmetic regulations.

Can PUG Fortify be soaked off?

No — PUG Fortify is a permanent hard gel and must be filed off. However, if a Planet Nails rubber base was applied underneath, you can file through the hard gel down to the base layer and soak off the remaining base with acetone, which significantly reduces removal time.

What is the difference between PUG Fortify and PUG Clear?

PUG Clear is a self-levelling hard gel suited to overlays, tip overlays, and encapsulation — it flows from the brush and settles into an even layer. PUG Fortify is thixotropic and does not self-level — it holds position on the nail and is designed for precision work including armouring, restoration, dual forms, and freehand sculpting. Both are HEMA-free and TPO-free.
