The SOS Ointment is unlike anything else in the Callux range. Where the smoothing creams use urea to draw moisture in, and the Lavender Cream Ointment uses an oil barrier to seal it in, the SOS Ointment is an anhydrous formula — it contains no water at all. It is composed entirely of butters, plant oils, and essential oils, making it a true rescue product for skin that is beyond what a cream can address.

Because there is no water in the formula, there are no preservatives needed to prevent microbial growth — and critically, there is nothing in it that will aggravate, sting, or irritate broken or open skin. This is the only product in the Callux range that can be applied directly to skin with splits, cracks, or raw areas. Shea Butter, Tamanu Seed Oil, Mango Seed Butter, and Coconut Oil create a deep, protective barrier that seals the skin and allows it to repair underneath, while three soothing antimicrobial essential oils — lemongrass, tea tree, and thyme — help keep the area clean.

At 92% natural origin, the SOS Ointment is also one of the cleanest formulas in the range. The heaviest texture of any Callux product, it is best recommended for evening use — applied before bed, worn with socks overnight, it works while the client sleeps and the difference is typically noticeable from the first morning. Safe for diabetic and pregnant clients.

The most important distinction in the range
Every other Callux product is contraindicated for broken or open skin. The SOS Ointment is specifically designed for it. If a client has splits, raw heels, or open cracks — this is the only appropriate homecare recommendation. It is also one of the most compelling retail closes in any intensive or Heel Peel service.
Who it’s for
Broken or open skin
The only Callux product safe to apply directly to splits, raw heels, or open cracks. The anhydrous formula contains no ingredients that will irritate compromised skin.
Severely dry, intact skin
For clients who want the most intensive barrier protection available, even where the skin is not broken. The heaviest, most occlusive finish in the range for overnight intensive repair.
Post-Heel Peel homecare
The strongest overnight repair option after a Heel Peel series, especially for clients whose heels are still recovering. Applied before bed with socks, it accelerates the repair process between appointments.
Diabetic clients
No urea, no acids, no harsh actives. The gentle anhydrous formula is well-tolerated and safe, including for use on any minor skin integrity issues common in diabetic foot care.
Pregnant clients
Safe for use throughout pregnancy. No contraindicated ingredients. A reliable recommendation for clients whose other foot care options are restricted during pregnancy.
Clients in very dry climates
For clients whose environment constantly strips moisture from the skin. The pure barrier ointment provides protection that lighter creams simply cannot match in harsh conditions.
Key ingredients

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil
The primary carrier base of the formula — listed first in the INCI, meaning it makes up the largest proportion of the product. Sunflower oil is light, skin-compatible, and rich in linoleic acid, which supports the skin barrier without feeling heavy. Its presence as the base is what keeps the formula comfortable to apply despite the richness of the butters layered on top of it.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter
One of the most effective natural occlusives in skin care, Shea Butter seals moisture into the skin and provides a rich, protective barrier. Rich in stearic and oleic fatty acids, it deeply nourishes while supporting barrier repair. A key contributor to the ointment texture and the intensive feel of the formula.

Calophyllum Tacamahaca (Tamanu) Seed Oil
Tamanu oil is one of the most clinically studied plant oils for skin repair. It contains unique fatty acids with well-documented anti-inflammatory and skin-healing properties, making it a purposeful inclusion in a product designed for broken or compromised skin. Not simply a conditioning oil — it actively supports repair underneath the barrier the ointment creates.

Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter
Pressed from the mango seed kernel, Mango Seed Butter has a fatty acid profile similar to Shea with a slightly firmer, waxy texture. Deeply nourishing and highly occlusive, it contributes to the ointment consistency and the long-lasting barrier protection of the formula.

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil
Provides nourishment and mild natural antimicrobial properties. Coconut Oil supports the overall barrier function of the formula while contributing a lighter feel that helps balance the richness of the butters.

Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil
A lightweight, easily absorbed oil rich in gamma-oryzanol, a natural antioxidant compound unique to rice bran. Provides nourishment and antioxidant protection while keeping the formula from feeling excessively heavy, complementing the richer butters in the blend.

Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter
A rich, solid butter from the cocoa bean with a high stearic acid content that provides excellent occlusive barrier properties. Cocoa Butter is well-known for its skin-softening and moisture-sealing effect, and contributes both to the protective function and the pleasant texture of the formula.

Tocopheryl Acetate + Tocopherol (Vitamin E complex)
Two forms of Vitamin E working together: Tocopheryl Acetate is a stable, slowly-releasing form that provides lasting antioxidant protection; Tocopherol is the active free form with immediate antioxidant activity. Together they protect both the formula from oxidation and the skin from free radical damage, while supporting barrier repair and skin health.

Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract
A potent botanical antioxidant rich in polyphenols, particularly EGCG. Green Tea Extract supports skin repair, calms inflammation, and provides additional antioxidant protection alongside the Vitamin E complex. A complementary active that reinforces the soothing, skin-supportive character of the formula.

Beta-Sitosterol + Squalene
Two skin-identical lipids that mirror the skin’s own natural composition. Beta-Sitosterol is a plant sterol with anti-inflammatory and barrier-supporting properties; Squalene is a natural emollient found in human sebum that absorbs rapidly and supports the skin’s natural lipid balance. Together they help the formula feel skin-compatible and comfortable despite its intensity.

Cymbopogon Flexuosus (Lemongrass), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) and Thymus Capitatus (Thyme) Herb and Leaf Oils
Three soothing antimicrobial essential oils that work together to create a protective environment on the skin surface. These are the same three oils found in the Callux Nati Serum, where they perform the same role in a completely different formula at the opposite end of the texture spectrum. Their inclusion in an ointment designed for broken skin is deliberate — antimicrobial protection is most important precisely where the skin barrier has been compromised.
How to use
1
Apply a small amount to clean hands or feet. A little goes a long way — the ointment spreads and warms with body heat.
2
Gently smooth over the affected areas. If applying to broken or open skin, press and smooth carefully rather than massaging. Do not use vigorous friction over broken areas.
3
For best results, apply before bed. For feet, wear cotton socks overnight to maximise the barrier effect and prevent transfer. For hands, wear cotton gloves if available.
4
Use consistently every night until the skin has repaired, then transition to a daily maintenance cream such as the Fresh Orange or Lavender Cream Ointment.
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. For use on broken skin, do not apply to deep wounds or infected areas — refer to a medical professional where appropriate.
