Non-woven nail silk strips are a professional staple that belong in every nail tech's kit. Lightweight, flexible and easy to work with, these pre-cut strips can be used across a range of techniques — from repairing a natural nail tear to reinforcing a dual form extension. Unlike silk on a roll, our strips are pre-cut to 8cm × 4cm, giving you a manageable, generously sized piece that's easy to measure and cut to exactly what you need for each service — and large enough to accommodate longer extensions too.

Nail Repairs
Reinforcing tears and splits on the natural nail

If a client comes in with a tear or split that's higher up on the nail bed — not at the free edge — nail silk is one of the most effective ways to reinforce it before applying any enhancement product. The silk acts as a stabilising layer that holds the tear together and prevents it from spreading further under the weight of the enhancement.

How to Use

Prep the nail
Perform your standard dry manicure, dehydrate and prime as normal.

Apply a thin layer of product over the tear
Apply a thin layer of Lastik or Stick 'n Float over the tear area — enough to act as an adhesive for the silk. Do not cure yet.

Place the silk strip over the tear
Cut your strip to size if needed and press it firmly over the tear, smoothing it down so there are no air bubbles or lifted edges.

Cure & continue
Cure fully. Apply a second thin sealing layer of product over the silk and cure again. You can now continue with your chosen enhancement or polish service over the top.

Free Edge Extension (No Dual Form)
Creating an extension using silk instead of a tip or paper form

Nail silk can be used to create a free edge extension without a tip, paper form or dual form — by placing the strip so it sits halfway on the nail plate and extends over the free edge. Once cured into place, it creates a thin, flexible extension base that can be built up with hard gel or a builder product. This is a more advanced technique that takes some practice to master, but for techs who are familiar with it, our pre-cut strips make it straightforward.

Good to know: This technique is more finicky than using a tip or dual form and isn't for everyone — but it's a great option for techs who prefer it or for situations where other extension methods aren't suitable.
How to Use

Prep & apply base coat
Prep the nail as normal, apply your base coat and cure fully.

Apply a thin layer of rubber base or BIAB
Apply a thin, even layer of Lastik or Stick 'n Float over the nail plate. Do not cure yet — this acts as the adhesive for the silk.

Place the silk strip & flash cure to lock
Position the strip so it sits halfway up the nail plate and extends over the free edge to your desired length. Press firmly to adhere, then hold in place — using a pinching tool or tweezer if needed — whilst flash curing to lock the silk in position. Do not attempt to shape the extension before it is locked in place.

Full cure, then build structure
Once the silk is locked in place, perform a full cure. Then apply your chosen hard gel or builder product over the silk extension to create full structure, apex and finish.

With Dual Forms
Reinforcing extensions and preventing underside spillage

When working with dual forms on extensions (not overlays), nail silk adds an extra layer of structural reinforcement at the free edge and helps prevent product from spilling underneath during application. There are two ways to incorporate it into your dual form workflow — choose the method that suits your technique.

Method A — Silk inside the form
Load your dual form with product as normal
Place a silk strip inside the form over the free edge area while the product is still uncured
Place the form onto the nail and cure in place as normal
The silk cures within the structure, adding strength at the extension point
Method B — Silk on the nail first
Apply and cure your base coat as normal
Apply a thin wet layer of Lastik or Stick 'n Float over the nail plate — do not cure yet
Place the silk strip so it sits halfway up the nail plate and extends over the free edge
Hold in place — using a pinching tool or tweezer if needed — whilst flash curing to lock the silk in position
Perform a full cure once the silk is locked
Load your dual form and apply over the top as normal
